Oremus

Welcome to Tokaj

Dominated by the Zemplén Mountains in northeastern Hungary, near the borders of Ukraine, the region, encompasses a total of 5,500 hectares of vineyards and includes 27 municipalities. It is triangular in shape and is bordered by Abaújszántó to the west, Tokaj to the south, and Sátoraljaujhely to the east. Tokaj Hegyalja (the golden chain of Tokaj mountains) was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. In the center of the triangle lies the village of Tolcsva, where the Oremus winery is located.

EVOLUTION

Oremus, with 30 years of history, symbolizes the rebirth of Tokaj after the fall of communism in Hungary. The Álvarez family has successfully balanced the tradition of one of the world's finest wines with modernization and technological advancement. Their commitment to winemaking included a detailed study of the production process and the preservation of traditions during the construction of the new winery. The renowned noble rot of the sweet Aszú, Late Harvest, and Eszencia wines is perfectly combined with the minerality, acidity, and versatility of the dry whites Mandolás and Petracs, creating a variety of unique flavors that reflect the essence of the region.

UNDERGROUND WINERIES

Explore the kilometers of natural underground cellars carved into volcanic soil, forming an intricate labyrinth where exceptional and unique wines are born.

This sanctuary of aging wines, dating back to the 13th century, is a true haven of tranquility. Everything is still, and in the silence, one can almost hear the wine breathing in the barrels. These semi-dark spaces beneath the surface, where only faint light filters through, exude a timeless atmosphere.

Anyone who enters slows down, is transformed, and instinctively begins to whisper.
